A NOTE ABOUT THE OTHER REVIEWS: The ownership of Spencer's Coffeehouse changed hands in spring 2005, and many improvements have been made. It's the same comfy, ambient atmosphere, but with more attention being paid to the artistry of espresso drinks and the quality of customer service.
Visit as often as possible: If you have not been to Spencers, you are missing out on an excellent experience. The Coffee is awesome! Food is great. I love going there for lunch or stopping by for a cup of java in the morning. My favortite is purchasing the coffee to adore every morning. Try the Highlander Grog - it will melt in your mouth.
A small slice of heaven located on the square!
Great atmosphere, but thats about it...: I had some time to waste, while waiting for a friend to get off work. I decided to try Spencers Coffee House. When I walked in the door, I noticed the place was very clean, with pictures. Its a very nice looking coffee house. When I went to the counter to order, the woman was on the phone. She looked up at me, talked for another minute or so, and then told the caller to "hold on a sec". She looked back at me, and waited for my order. I got a hot tea and a scone. It was expensive. She told me it would be ready in a minute, then went back to her conversation. I went and sat down, and started reading a book. Ten minutes later, she yells "its ready" and sets it on the counter. She went somewhere in the back, and I got my food. The scone was ok, but not worth the price. I've not been back to Spencer's. If you have a business meeting and want to meet somewhere where you won't be bothered and its nice, without going to a restaurant, I do suggest Spencer's. Other than that---I can't imagine a good reason to go. Java House is so much better!!!
