Sunday, August 2, 2009 my husband and I enjoyed lunch at the Brickyard Cafe on our way back to Michigan from Tennessee. My Great Grandfather, Harrison Barner built the original home in 1857 and I was very excited to see it for the first time. I was pleased to find such a well appointed restaurant. Our service was very good and sincere considering how busy they were. Our food was also very tasty however very fattening!!! I cannot imagine having a better experience and hope other Barner family members go there as well someday. If I lived in the area I would go there frequently. Thank you to the owners for taking care of the property so well! It was wonderful to see my Great Grandfather Harrison Barner's name on the back of the menu!
Success has spoiled what was once, perhaps, the best restaurant in town. Prices keep rising and food quality keeps falling. Specials are especially high priced and the fish no longer fresh. Upon telling our inattentive server that my Swordfish has a strong fish taste, I was told that Swordfish is suppossed to... Try the 3 other Bosnian owned restaurants downtown for much better food and service.
It is a bit pricey but the Serbian / Italian food is great. They have slipped a bit in the last couple of years from a 5 star. The specials are great and the atmosphere is European. Very nice and unusual for central KY.

The restaurant does not serve Serbian food. It doesn't even serve Bosnian food. It serves an eclectic mix of Italian and Southern American thanks to Chef John Bolling. The owner is from Bosnia. That is the only connection the place has to the Mediterranean region.
