J&B's is ordinary at best. If your looking for a nice atmosphere a decent breakfast then J&B's may be your place however there's nothing there that you won't find at any other joint. I could be wrong but I think the long lines at J&B's are more indicative of the lack of breakfast joints in town than good food.

A little overrated...: This is an ok place to eat breakfast, not nearly as great as everyone makes it out to be. We finally tried it after seeing giant lines numerous weekend mornings when driving by. It is basically a little diner that has fairly cheap food. However, the food is nothing to write home about. It is definitely not a place I'd stand in a huge line to eat at. The pancakes were good, but the bacon was burnt and the hash browns were about the same as you'd have them anywhere else. My wife's meal was average as well. For all the OSU fans, next time you're in Ann Arbor hating the wolverines, stop by Angelos to see what a great breakfast place really is!

A Very Good Columbus Brunch Restaurant: Jack and Benny's is a restaurant that you'll only find in Columbus, Ohio. The location is a couple blocks north of THE Ohio State University, and on the corner of Hudson and High. The location makes it a little problematic to park, because there are no parking spaces for the restaurant. There is a parking lot for the ACE Hardware store that is a couple buildings down, but that is extremely small in the grand scheme of things. (I know of restaurants that have parking lots the size of football fields. The walk to Jack and Benny's from the ACE lot is much, much shorter than the walk across lots at those other places.)

Once you get inside the restaurant, you notice two things. First, if you somehow forgot you're in Columbus, you are quickly reminded by all of the OSU items in shelves and other Columbus pictures hanging on the walls. There are decades-old pictures of magazine articles about Columbus high school football teams, a case full of OSU football player bobbleheads, and, of course, a lot of OSU t-shirts worn by students that are likely just waking up at noon after a long night of "studying."

The second thing you'll notice is that you're in pretty close quarters. The tables are pretty close together, regardless of whether you're in the main area or the side room. Not only that, but if the tables are full, the waiting area is extremely limited. If there are more than five people waiting, chances are you'll have to stand outside to wait to get seated. But honestly... are you really going to care about that if you're in your sweats and hungover on a Saturday or Sunday morning/afternoon?

Once you do get inside and get seated, you'll be treated to quality service and really good and affordable food. I'd also like to note that if you're on a diet, chances are that this place is not for you. This restaurant would definitely fall under the category of a "greasy spoon diner." That said, everything here is great, and I'd suggest to come a few times so you can try everything on the menu. If you can't do that, I'd highly recommend the chorizo burrito and the Gut Buster (make sure your stomache is empty if you want to eat the whole thing)... or mix and match your pancakes. Whatever you do try, remember to make it here by 3PM. As friendly as the staff may be, they probably would like the restaurant to close at its regular hours.

All in all, I really love this place. Even though I'm not a Buckeye fan, I can't hold their support of OSU against them... I suppose I'd expect nothing less in Columbus. But, despite the limited space, it's a good location, they do very well with what they have, and it makes it a little more personal. Also, the food is affordable and great, and the staff is friendly. What more can you ask for before mid-afternoon within walking distance of a major college campus?
