Great food and peeps. YUMMY... Can not wait for the chips again!
Great atmosphere and menu: We came here for my graduation dinner last June and had a great time. What I liked the most about Cap City was the unintimidating atmosphere and the variety of options on the menu. I had a group of 16 picky eaters with me and they were all accomodated very well. Plus, most things were very affordable. If you're a student at OSU, you can also get discounted gift cards at the Union- $25 gift cards cost $15, makes it even more affordable and can be used at any Cameron Mitchell restaurant.
Now I know what meatloaf really is!: If you are looking for a classy restaurant that you can be casual at and still eat like a king, then Cap City Fine Diner & Bar is a great spot! I walked in late Sunday afternoon with four guests and was able to get a table within a half an hour (though I would recommend a reservation). The restaurant has a distinct style, low lighting, and an interesting dining room set-up. The service was friendly, energetic, and seemed interested in making my visit pleasurable. The menu showed a rather extensive selection of traditional and exotic drinks, along with some traditional and varied menu items (all of which were mouthwatering!). After ordering, complementary sweet-rolls helped to ease the hunger inspired by the aroma of delicious food in the air. The food did take a good twenty minutes or so to arrive, but it was a full dining room, so some wait was to be expected. I ordered the meatloaf. The word "meatloaf" just does not adequately describe the perfect blend of flavors that blessed my taste-buds with the first mouthful. Wow. I have always "kind-of" liked meatloaf, but this was simply amazing! My group split piece of "big chocolate cake," which was also very good, and we left with full and thankful stomachs. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. The price of dinner and desert was fairly modest, totaling to around $20 (for me, I had an IBC Root Beer from the bottle to drink), including tip.
