Great barbecue at pretty standard prices: The food at Shorty's was great and the complimentary cornbread muffin was excellent. Our food was a little slow coming out but it was cooked perfectly so I don't mind the wait. I've also had the ribs at the rib festival and LOVED them. They were my favorite of all the booths. Prices seemed pretty much in line with similar style places (Smokey Bones, etc.). They also have carryout at the front entrance so if you feel like just eating at home, they are still a great option.
Our server was super nice and the food was perfect. The decoration is a little kitschy but cute and the mouthwatering smell of barbecue permeates...which, in my opinion, is a good thing.
First time visitors from out of town. Our server, Timothy, was attentive and friendly. He helped us navigate our way through the extensive menu. Choices included seafod, steaks, chops, ribs, chicken, brisket, and more. All available for seaoning or BBQ. We observed the HUGE portions coming out, and chose to split a combo platter. We shared a house salad, after being told what we were seeing was a customers large house salad with chicken. This allowed us the oppurtunity to add on sides. We sampled beef brisket, 1/4 chicken, mac n' cheese, baked beans, cornbread, and Breadpudding for dessert. Every thing came out hot and moist for a Saturday night. Sharing left us no leftovers to carry back to a hotel room. The food was great and we would return and recommend on that alone. Timothy(a Toledo local) was so helpful with our visit, that he inquired and suggested other local dining "must try". We took the dessert back to the room, along with a offering from Cladaughs at the mall. Although the Iris Breadpudding was with apples and raisins, the texture was firm like cold fruitcake, with a chewiness to the top crust. The sauces and Homemade whipped cream were the highlight. Shorty's Breadpudding was right there with the meal in moistness, but with the same chewiness on the top crust. The sauces were unimaginitive. It was still my top pick (with the others homemade toppings). The interior was clean and dim for atmosphere. The tables were well lit for menu reading. The bathrooms were clean, and the parking was abundant, and lit
