If you like dining in a nostalgic setting and eating fresh diner style food, this is your place. They have lots of sandwiches: Reuben, Slim Jim, and Fried fish are what we had and it was all very tasty and fresh. For dessert they have a special, which could be cake, pie or other goodies; they also have 12 interesting flavors of Hershey's Ice Cream. It was tough deciding between the Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream, the Oatmeal Cookie Ice Cream and the winner, Cappuchino with Fudge and Toffee Ice Cream. Perfection! My Mom and friend had the hot fudge sundae with real whip cream and cherry. The setting includes a bar where you can order sarsaparilla and 50's style booths and tables. Lots of antiques from the turn of the last century adorn the walls and niches. There is an antique shop upstairs, too. The help is friendly and hard-working. Prices are good. I think the Fish Sandwich was $4.59, but it was big as the Kaiser roll it was on. And cooked just perfectly, neither hard nor underdone. Definitely a must visit.
A group of 5 ate there today, September 16, 2007. We are from Pittsburgh out for a Sunday cruise south. We found the historic restaurant very enjoyable, prices extremely great, food excellent and waitresses very friendly. The history of Marv's makes this place a restaurant to return to just for the ambience. I highly recommend it.
