I have eaten at Otani for 25 or more years and have always been happy until tonight when I headed there with my restaurant.com coupon. The coupon was for $25 off two hibachi dinners. Thursday night is their half off drink night. I thought that it would really be a bargain as these coupons are for food only. My guest and I ordered a drink at the bar BEFORE dinner and then headed to the hibachi section, sending our bar tab there. We were assured that the half off drinks were not only available in the bar. Ordered and enjoyed our meal. When we recieved the bill we were suprised to find our four drinks were full price! The hostess came to the table to LOUDLY and rudely tell us that we could either have the drinks at half price OR use the coupon, not both. She said that we could have ordered (and paid for) the drinks at the bar and used the coupon, info we could have used at the bar when we mentioned the coupon. We left embarassed! Shame on that hostess.
This place is one of the best sushi places in Cleveland! No glitzy metrosexual atmosphere or sky high prices, but the food is good and the service is friendly, which is why you would go to a restaurant in the first place!
As an avid sushi lover, i must say, this was the worst sushi i ever had. The rolls were mostly mounds of wet rice that were unappetizing. The setting of the restaurant was fine, and the service was friendly, but insufficient. Bottom line: food put us in a bad mood for the rest of the evening . . . not worth the time or money.

timing is everything. I was enjoying my meal and overheard the discussion. the hostess/manager was loud and rude. she should not be in a position to deal with your customers
