A delightful hometown treasure! My father and I were driving to Bar Harbor, late morning, certain it was too late to find breakfast anywhere. Just after crossing the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, we spied the "Breakfast All Day" sign outside the Seabreeze, and decided to stop--the BEST decision of our entire trip!
A charming, hometown cafe atmosphere, populated by locals and hosted by wonderful, friendly servers. We felt like family from the moment we were seated! Fresh baked goods highlight the menu that included some wonderful surprises. I was delighted to find "Baked Beans" as an entree on the breakfast menu! Seafood gets so much notoriety in Maine, that it's easy to forget another of her great culinary traditions, born of the great woods loggers--the Maine bean bake. A steaming pot, rich with the flavors of barbecue and brown sugar and served with thick sliced homemade toast, made for a simple, traditional, and very hearty meal!
Even a simple request for a side of potatoes brought an array of choices: Hash browns or home fries? Fried or grilled? With or without onions? Nice!
The Seabreeze is exactly the kind of local gem you dream of finding when you travel. My next trip to Maine will be planned to ensure another visit!
