I must disagree with "just" who posted in May 2007.
You CAN bring your own food in, you have to pay $5 for a "food pass" though. Which still is not bad seeing as though the movie you get is basically nothing since new releases at Cinemark are almost $10, now. If you watch the ad before the movie you see that the main source of income comes from the concessions. So I don't mind paying concessions that are reasonably priced, to help out something that's fun and overall cheaper. It's only $16 a car! Not bad at all! Popcorn is like $6 for a large tub and $1 for one refill. Kinda a lot but still cheaper than Cinemark. And a large drink (was enough to share for me and my bf for 3 movies!) for I think $4.50 or so. We also got a cheeseburger for $2.75 which was really good and a great price! If you have a health condition, you shouldn't get mad at the place for not catering to only your specific needs. There are other people who go there who enjoy the food and their good prices.
**Add** I just checked the website and it also says that you may bring in food, without the $5 pass, that is needed for a medical diet. Meaning if your family really were diabetic, you would be allowed to bring in the food medically needed, without a problem. Just saying for anyone else interested.
I'm new to the "drive-in" thing. Only been to one other, but the other one I went to was on grass, this one is on rocks. The rocks are better for when it rains so you won't get stuck in the grass. But if you intend to sit on the ground bring extra blankets for cushion! The other theatre had speakers with it, for some reason this one you have to bring your own radio, which is fine. The concession prices are VERY reasonable and the food is good. It gets really crowded a lot since both sides start about the same time on the first movie. But oh well.
Overall, it's cheaper than Cinemark, you get to see more movies, the concessions are cheaper, you get more privacy and it's just a lot more fun. I definitely will return, even after I leave the Kent/Ravenna area.
Website is "www.funflick.com" and has a list of the concessions (not prices, though) and also explains the $5 "food pass" I mentioned above.
NO FOOD FROM HOME: We used to bring our own drinks and healthy snacks to the movies because members of our family are diabetic. Now they won't let you bring food into the theater. The prices for food and beverages at the snack bar are outrageous and there is nothing healthy about the food.
Thanks for the many years: I've been going to Mid-Way since I was a kid, and I now take my kids as often as possible. I will continue going and hope to someday take my grandchildren, too. Thank you for the many years of memories I've already had and hope to see you in the many years to come!!!!!!
