User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsRay's is a great place to go with friends for a beer and a meal. This is not a place to take children to, after all it is a bar. They did a nice job with the downstairs remodel and much needed updates. Ray's has the best selection of draft beers in Kent and their food is really good. My only complaint is the upstairs section of the bar is closed quite frequntly during busy times which leads to tripping over other people and having to stand around like an idiot until a table or a seat at the bar opens up. Whoever is in charge of Ray's needs to keep the upstairs open at all times, after all they can easily afford it with the prices they charge their customers.

We recently had a TERRIBLE experience at Ray's Place. They were very busy and obviously couldn't handle the crowd. After waiting over 45 minutes for our food, it was brought out ice cold. Our server told us that we could wait another 30 minutes for our order to be made again (we had 8 adults and 3 children in our party). We agreed and continued to wait. After about 10 minutes, the server brought our food back out and it was STILL COLD. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager (his name was BJ) made excuse after excuse, and even admitted that he had TOUCHED all of our food with his hands and said that it wasn't that cold. We were told that they just reheated our burgers. BJ was terribly rude to us, and did ABSOLUTELY nothing to correct the situation.

I wish your review would have said what time of day or night that you tried to have hot food served to your large party of 11 with 3 of those attending being kids. It's a bar where college kids go, not families. In the decades that I have gone to Ray's, I never have had cold food, also I do not drink, just enjoy the atmosphere and young people.

Bad service is bad service - whether you have children in your party or not. A manager touching food is not sanitary - whether you have children in your party or not. Cold food is not acceptable - whether you have children in your party or not. The children were not the problem - the restaurant and it's staff were.
Ray's is the best bar/restaurant I've ever been to. I've eaten there many times over the past several years and have never had a problem with the food. I've been there so often that I've gotten to know B.J., the aforementioned manager; the guy's awesome!
