Sushi Katsu

Not bad, not great: I recently moved to Ohio from Colorado, and the first order of business was to find a good sushi establishment nearby. Sushi Katsu is pretty good, but far from the best.

Food quality was probably on the order of 4 of 5 stars. Fish is fairly fresh, but not an awful lot of variety (ie if you're looking for Spanish Mackerel or Tasmanian Salmon, or even [pressed] Oshi Sushi you won't find it). With only one sushi chef and one waitress they get pretty behind and slow when busy. Lack of variety and slow service bring this one down to a 3 star.

That said I haven't found much better in the area.. yet!

EDIT, late 2009 - Kasai in Wadsworth is far superior if you're looking for good stuff and don't mind a little drive.

I would recommend this place for a first timer, but as an experienced sushi goer I will cross this one off my list. The prices are too high for the quality that you get here. I ordered 3 rolls and 2 cans of cola for $30.00. There was wasabi in one of them which was very unpleasant for me. If you want to try really good sushi go to Benne Chopsticks in Pittsburgh PA.

Nice out-of-the-way location, and all the ambiance of a Tokyo sushi-ya. Good food and service. Don't like the beer mugs instead of the small glasses like in Japan. And they don't serve real 0-cha, but some barley tea I didn't like.

I'm not going back because of the deceptive billing practice. They post a small note on the front door and near the sushi bar that they add a gratuity (17% for parties 1-5!). Nothing at all printed on the menus like most restaurants might. When the bill comes, the amount is added with no mention it's the gratuity. And they present the credit card slip with the "tip" wide open for unsuspecting customers to double-tip. And the forced gratuity is split between the owner and the help. Left me with a bad feeling about the place.
