My husband and I decided to try Farmstead Restaurant on a recent trip to the Berlin, Ohio area, as it was very close to where we were staying. We checked out the Buffet upon our arrival (around 5:00 p.m.) and were disappointed with the selection -- some of the selections were rather scant -- there were only three tiny pieces of ham in a sauce and a few slices of what appeared to be roast beef in gravy in two of the serving trays, although there appeared to be plenty of chicken. We decided to purchase items for "Take Out" -- Since we had a refrigerator and microwave in our cottage, this amount of food would suffice for a second dinner for both of us. We ordered 8 pieces of what was supposed to be "Broasted" Chicken Legs, a side order of Creamed Corn, Mashed Potatoes and a "Manhattan" Sandwich, consisting of Roast Pork with Dressing. Instead of the "Broasted" Chicken, we received "Fried" Chicken (which my husband said tasted like over-done, left-over chicken.) He also said the Creamed Corn and Mashed Potatoes were nowhere as delicious as they were at Der Dutchman. My "Manhattan" Sandwich was not very good either -- the Roast Pork was extremely dry -- not at all like I enjoyed at Der Dutchman. On the only plus side, the bread with gravy over it and the Dressing was good and moist. Guess we will not be returning to the Farmstead Restaurant again -- the slightly longer drive to Der Dutchman is certainly worth the trip! We would not recommend this restaurant.

Excellent food for the cost! I had the broasted chicken which was tasty! The coating was nice and crisp, and the chicken was moist and tender. The gravy was very good. My only disappointment was it seemed they used instant for the mashed potatoes. I have an allergy to a certain bagged salad - the waitress went "above and beyond" and brought out a plate of romaine lettuce only (which is cut from a head) and allowed my to add my own fixings to it from the salad bar. The salad bar was included as a choice for a side, at no extra charge! My husband and I split a piece of raspberry cream pie - yum! The restaurant and bathroom were very clean, and the service was quick and friendly. We spent twice the amount at another restaurant in the area, and were very disappointed. You won't be disappointed here! We plan on returning on another Amish country trip!

Clean. Fast. Friendly. Delicious. The price is right. I don't know how it can get any better. When my family visits Amish country, we always eat here. The bad part is; every year, the lines get longer and longer! The secret is out.
