I have had BBQ throughout the country, but New Riegel Cafe ribs and chicken are unique among the world.
Spending my winter months in Florida, by springtime one of the main things on my mind is getting back to the New Riegel Cafe for my double order of ribs!
Ok I have grew up loving the ribs there, but last night I was suprised to find no wait there and I found out why, the rib quality is not what i used to be, I agree that there were WAY to greassy, I ordered a double order because they were kinda small, so for 20 cents less than the price of ordering to regular dinners, I was give 4 ribs more than a regulal dinner, and I only got one order of fries! what a rip off. The last thing is if you are going to try this place stop at the pop maching across the street. $.95 for a class not much bigger than a coffee cup, WITH not FREE REFILS, WHO DOES THIS!!! Its not 1965 any more.. time to give a little back to the customers with a free refil or two!!!!!!!!!
I was very disapointed in the ribs, drink, and the overall meal, it will be a long time before i try New Reigel Cafe again! for the $30 dollars i spent I should have went to outback, or tonys for some quality food, and free refils.
Also No credit cards, again its 2009, made me feel like they are sweeping the recipes under the rug, and not paying uncle sam!!!
New Riegel ribs?? Should be called New Riegel greasy spoon. It was terrible. My husband and I went with another couple on Valentines Day. The wait wasn't bad 45 minutes and prices were good too. Then, you get to the food. The house salad (lettuce) was good. I had the sweet and sour dressing. YUM! The ribs, on the other hand, were not. The BBQ sauce was not smothered and dripping off your fingers, like I think a nice rack of ribs would have. Instead, it is almost like a baked on BBQ kind of breading, and it is the grease that runs down your fingers. There was so much grease on the ribs that the basket they came in literally had a pool of grease on the bottom of it. YUK! The french fries were laying in that grease so they were nice and soggy on the bottom half. So, if you want to take a chance and try it knock yourself out. I know alot of people say that those are the best ribs around and they just love them. To them I say take that money you are spending on your dinners everytime you visit and pay for your wife to go to cooking school because you have obviously never had a good cooked meal. I recommend Tony's or even Outback in Findlay. That my friend is goood finger lickin' ribs. This was grease meat on a bone.

WOW! you are the first person in 32 year I have ever heard say that about these ribs...... so these ribs are the BOMB! I have been eating them for 25 years.... a zillion people can't be wrong, so I feel really sorry for YOU!
ditto that sweetpea the fries at the bottom of the ribs is the BOMB....! i have taken friends from columbus & now they to have the craving.....best ribs in Ohio hands down....outback give me a break.
lol, both poor reviews said "Go to Outback." Outback can't compare to New Riegel ribs. Some people don't get it, they think ribs should come with half a bottle of BBQ poured on top. New Riegel ribs have a unique sauce thats cooked into the meat, and its delicious. These are the first poor reviews I've seen anywhere, and with the Outback comments I'm skeptical them came from the same person. Search for "New Riegel Cafe" anywhere else on the web, nothing but glowing reviews. These guys don't know real BBQ.

Also, if "bad deal" spent $30 on a meal he was either buying for two people, or he secretly was taking home a carryout order. A double order of ribs will run you $15 roughly, and these aren't baby back ribs. The meat is thick and falls off the bone, which is more than you can say for some "World's Best Ribs" places.
We use to go to New Riegel, but you never know how the ribs are going to be. Sometimes they are the best ever and other times the are very bad. Everyone in the area knows what I say is true. It is pot luck and when the ribs are good, they are very good!
