Hague established his own retail water conditioning dealership in a small office in Columbus, Ohio. Before that, Bill Hague tasted success as a direct factory distributor for Kirby vacuum cleaners. Then, the water business presented Bill with a unique opportunity to build a sales organization and tap into the rental market for domestic and commercial water treatment equipment. By the early 1970s, his company began manufacturing its own equipment better and more reliable that the models he sold previously. Hague started selling through other dealers, too, establishing Hague as a regional supplier. Within a few years, a national sales organization was distributing the full Hague line.
