I write at least partly in response to Hoosier Daddy's absurd review below. That some random guy in Indiana (!) professes to set down the final word on what is, and is not, "chili" is laughable. (Evidently, Cincinnati chili does not comport with the "chili" he gets at his local Big Boy restaurant.) Further, Hoosier's review is disingenuous: Hoosier suggests that he would be more forgiving if Skyline's chili had been the chili he was "expecting," ignoring the fact that he knew exactly what he was getting, as soon as he sat down in restrauant, from seeing the photographs of chili depicted on Skyline's menu.
We moved to Cincinnati a year ago from the Gulf Coast, and I love the Skyline stuff, even if it is not the Texas-style, hot-and-spicy stew that most Americans think of when they hear the word "chili." Seriously, who cares? It is Cincinnati's unique American culinary contribution. And, while it is not a gourmet meal, it is very tasty and fulfilling comfort food. Not every city or region in this country can claim such a thing.
To top it off, this experience costs you only five dollars, give or take a quarter or two.
Skyline chili? Five f***ing stars.
This is not chili.: This is not chili. It's some sort of bizarre pasta dish, but it is not chili. They should be prosecuted for false advertising. Had I not been expecting real chili, I might have reviewed this a bit better, but the disappointment I felt at tasting this non-chili falsely sold as "chili" overwhelmed everything else.
Love that Skyline Chili: This is, by far, the best Skyline Chili Restaurant in Cincinnati. The portions are larger and the chili is thicker. Also, the night manager, Chris, is the friendliest guy you will ever meet. Kind of makes you happy to pay at the end of the meal. You can't go wrong at this location!
