My wife and I went to Italy several years ago for 2 weeks, to Rome and the Tuscany region. We really enjoyed the food at 2 family owned restaurants, one in Rome and one in Montecatini Alto. Since then we have never found any restaurant in America to match. Now we have found it and then some! Germano's in Montgomery. To start with the wine list was extensive. We each started with a nice glass of Chianti Classico. For an appetizer we both had the Mozzarella Caprese which was splendid. We enjoyed it with the warm bread dipped in Germano's olive oil. After that was a nice bowl of Italian wedding soup. Everyone makes theirs different, and this version was very tasty. For the main course my wife had the Penne Duroniese (penne with mushrooms, onions, peppers, and sausage in tomato sauce) and I had one of specials, the Alaskan halibut stuffed with spinach, and pasta on the side with a fettucine sauce to die for. Both dishes extremely delicious with just the right herbs and seasonings. And of course for dessert we both had the raspberry pie with a cup of coffee. We finished it off sharing a limoncello just like we did in Rome. The service was perfect,...the waiter was friendly and helpful, always there to fill an empty water glass or answer our questions. And I thought the prices were very reasonable considering the delicious food and service. This is one of those few restaurants where both my wife and I left fully satisfied but wishing we had room to turn around and go back for more. And believe me, whenever we are in the area, we will be back for more. This has got to be one of the best Italian restaurants in Cincinnati or the US, and we've been to quite a few (and yes, have tried all the ones in CIncinnati Magazine's top 10 the past few years). My wife btw is Italian and she is very picky about Italian food. Let me say she was quite impressed and blown away by Germano's. 'Nuf said,.....Great place indeed!
Excellent food, but you will pay for it. The Veal Chop is to die for. Good wines, great service. Very expensive for italian food.
One of the finest dining experiences in the city!: Whenever my wife and I want to celebrate a special occasion or treat friends or family to a fine dining experience, one restaurant always comes to mind. Germano's Restaurant in the heart of Old Montgomery always offers up mouthwatering dishes that tantalize the palate. The atmostphere is cozy and the staff is exceptional. This restaurant ranks as one of our all time favorite restaurants nationwide.
