The type of company that gives trucking a bad name. According the the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Association FMCSA, Jamestown Transportation is deficient in every catagory. The equipment is placed out of service on a regular basis for safety reasons. The drivers are ticketed and arrested for the following (a short list.) speeding, following too closely, improper lane change, wreckless driving, USE OR POSSESION OF DRUGS, USE OR POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL. Clearly there is no safety department to be found at this company. Any insurance company that would touch this outfit are out of their minds. It's just a matter of time until the fed's lock them down.

Robert, Since you are watching that close, why not use your calculator and do the math for the past 30 monthes. I think you'll find a great decrease in the numbers, as we are working on these issues. Yes we've had our safety issues, as any company will with a fleet of more than 100 trucks. BUT, the alcohol and drug charges were NEVER arrests, the speeds are 98% without citations, the lane change, too close, wreckless, are 98% pertaining to or linked to an accident, in which we ALL know they have to lay the blaim SOMEWHERE. You sound alot like another discruntilled driver that could'nt fit in, and nothing better to do with your un-employed time than to bad mouth a company trying to keep a couple of hundred people out of the un-employment ranks.

Randy: I congratulate you on bringing your numbers down! 96.27 driver safety rate and 64.98 vehicle safety rate. I am sorry to disappoint you, I am not un-employed and currently work for one of the largest private carriers in the U.S., 3,990 power units as opposed to your 100. Our driver safety rate is 8.83, and a vehicle safety rate of 5.47. The reason our numbers are so low and yours are so high is simple. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Get the driver wages up and hold them accountable for their actions, and your numbers will come down. Get your calculator and do that math. From what I understand you pay 0.25 per hub mile. My company pays 0.47 per hub mile and $22.03/hour for everything logged on line 4. (on duty not driving). Why would anyone risk losing their life or CDL for 0.25/mile and sit at a dock for free? O/O at 0.74 per mile, same question. I'm not really looking to get in an argument with you over any of this but would your or the owner of the company be willing to work for 0.25 or 0.74 per mile? Did'nt think so!

I just wanted to say, times are definetly hard, but to think its better elsewhere is more than likely not true.Jamestown is a good company in my book becuase, I've never been any where that has good equipment, and tall miles, get fuel when you need it,not when your told, and your choice where you want to go when available. No qualicom crap if you dont like that sort of thing.Dispatch is pretty flexable too.Just stick in there for when times do get better and they will.

Is Jamestown looking to hire.I've got a CDL-A/HAZ and recent med card.but I've been out of trucking since 96.Sure would like to get back on the road again, but everybody says I need to go to trking school, any suggestions?

If it's a top notch company why would you leave when times got better? Are you really saying as soon as the opportunity presents itself to work for a safety minded, high paying, respectable company, I'm outta here?
