My daughter is in her 4th year of dance. She has been in acrobat, tap, ballet, and now jazz. My daughter loves it and for the most part I really love it too. To be honest I feel Vicki goes a little overbaoard with wanting her customers to buy tights and such from her apparel shop with the price being over rated. The waiting room is crunched. BUT!!! Vicki loves her job and her students!! She does have a comfortable hometown dance studio and her prices ARE the lowest around for classes. The studio HAS been around for 50 years so she must be doing something right. I would appriciate if she could figure something out with the recitals because my neices take classes there as well and it is a very long day at the convention center and I too have been asked for money, a cigarette, and/or a phone while spending the long day in downtown Dayton but she makes for a beautiful recital. My family has to sit hours there as well and they are getting older so that is a lot on them and they too have to pay for two shows and watch the same numbers in both shows. BUT!!! The pros majorlly out weigh the cons. If they didn't, I wouldn,t still be a dedicated customer.

My daughter is starting her 3rd year at Vickie Jo's Dance studio and I am very happy with the techniques she has learned. I am thoroughly outraged at the allegations that are being stated regarding her business ethics and values! As a business manager I know the struggles to keep prices low in the current state of our economy. She has the best prices in town. My daughter can take tap and ballet for the same price as ballet class at other studios. Her Registration fee is only $8! Are you kidding! Try and find a place with lower rates before you pass judgement. Vickie has actually started giving discounts for multiple classes even though she is still the lowest price studio in the area! I just can't see how anyone with any type of business education or any education for that matter, can complain about her prices! Call the competitors and even get your calculator out if it is that hard to figure out the tremendous amount of money that you are getting! I hope anyone reading this review site is educated enough to realize that you can't always believe disgruntle mothers whose daughters didn't get to stand in the front row during the recital! lol News flash!!! It's not about YOU! It is about your child!!!!!

Thank you Vickie for our 3 years of great dance education, see you on Tuesdays!

As the daughter of Vicki, I must say I was very shocked to read that my mom was obsessed with making money! In my 32 yrs. of knowing her up close & personal, I have never known that to be true.
My mom is very giving, never talks about money, & would give my brother or I whatever we needed without hesitation.
As far as my mom's respect for her customers, I have never seen her have anything but respect; for her long time & new customers, she has always been very polite & professional.
Regarding suggestions on the waiting room; just because she does not follow all suggestions, does not mean that the suggestions are being ignored! She has a reason for the things she does & does not do, & I feel that these reasons do not necessarily always have to be communicated to the public. Most dance studios don't even have waiting rooms, they make them wait in their cars!
Regarding the storage sheds; those were LONG over due. My parents had previously been using their garage, 2 spare bedrooms, office space, & under their stairs to store all dance related items. They have been sacrificing 1/2 their living space for yrs! They then gave up 1 of their spare bedrooms when my son came along since they are my full time babysitters.
The recital day does not start @ 7:30am, that's just when the doors to the Dayton Conventn Cntr open. She just wants you there ready to practice the 9:00am finale!, then you are excused after your child's last number. And the first recital ends at 5:30, the 2nd at 9:30p.m., it would've ended sooner had it not been for the 50th anniv! That says alot for the studio; being around for 50 yrs!
If I was harassed somewhere, I think I would call 911, then notify the Day. Conv. Cntr.
People do not realize all of the hard work, sweat, tears, patience, endurance, determination, dedication etc. it takes to run a business/show of that capacity, and to please every single person? Well, I'd have to say that's pretty unrealistic. She does her best to please as many as possible but must treat everyone FAIR.
Having 2 shows is not her first choice, but when the place you're used to (that was bigger) closes down, you do what you have to, & make the best of it.
I know for a fact that there are numerous amounts of fees she has to pay; the stagehands alone cost thousands of dollars! I really hope this clears up any questions or confusion anyone may be expereincing, & I feel that if you're happy with the Vicki Jo Dance Studio, then tell others; if you're not, then tell HER!
    Sincerely,
Vicki's daughter (& satisfied student of 29 yrs.)

I too was a student of Vicki Jo's, I will admit I did learn a lot from that studio, however I have to disagree with the comment... "I have never seen her have anything but respect; for her long time & new customers," you may not have seen it but I know for a fact of the disrespect that was given to some of her students. I was one of them. I have been a student for many years, and have wanted to look else where but have made many friends from the studio and enjoy dancing with them. I don't agree with everything that is done that the studio, but then again it is not my company to run and in a way I can understand why it is done the way it is. it was much easier having the one show on Sunday, but then again I also understand why it is the way it is.
