Carrabba's Italian Grill is among my favorite national restaurants. This location in Dayton's southern suburbs is just a few short blocks from my home---a fact that makes it a conviennt place that I often order carry out, but I also enjoy eating at the restaurant itself.
Over the years I have been frequenting this location and others around the country---I like to try to change up what I order from the menu. I have liked just about every selection that I have eaten thus far.
Among my favorite items on the menu--the entire selection of wood-fired pizzas including an option "to make your own." They have a great Margherita Pizza--the simple pizza presentation that is the Godmother of all pizzas.
Other favorite menu offerings: most of the grill items with Chicken Marsala being my number one choice; among the many pasta specialty offerings---my fave is the Pasta Weesie--a classic and simple offering of shrimp sauteed with a blend of lemon butter, garlic, white wine, mushrooms and scallions over linguine.
I also love the Veal Marsala--an Italian classic dish.
I love the bread they offer, a hearty Italian style bread--along with the option of dipping the bread in olive oil flavored with Italian herbs and spices.
For dessert---I do have to go with their Tiramisu.
They do have a nice wine list consisting of some of the nationally known wines--you won't find an offering of some small label, low volume wine that one might find at a locally owned establishment---but when eating Italian food--I prefer to go "old school", depending upon my mood, to drink either a good bodied white or red that is also inexpensive--and Carrabba's has some good house wines that more than fill the bill.
Other than the fact that one is assured to recieve good value for the money at any Carrabba's location---customers receive good quality food, served by attentive and friendly waitstaff.
I definitely recommend Carrabba's in general and this location in particular.
I'll keep coming back for more...: After my 3rd visit, I thought it necessary to tell you how wonderful this place is. The ambiance is warm and inviting-just a wonderful place. Service is excellent and quick. When you're seated they bring your warm bread and an oil dip with Italian spice that is very good. If you're unsure if you like Italian food, I recommend the Tagliarini Picchi Pacchiu, you can add grilled Shrimp or Chicken, for a slightly higher cost. It's a wonderful base of tomato and garlic that is a sheer delight to your senses. The Chicken Brian is a mouth-watering combination of grilled chicken and melted goat cheese that tantalizes the tounge. I would recommend Carrabba's to anyone that is out for a great dinner at a great place with character and charm who wants a change from the ordinary to extraordinary
The best Italian food.: My wife and I decided to try Carrabba's for the first time during the week before Christmas 2006. It was so crowded and yet we only waited for our table about 30-35 minutes. Let me tell you it was well worth the wait. The food was spectacular, the service was outstanding and the atomosphere was perfect. We have been recommending them to everyone.
