8-5-08 - For eight years, five days a week I have been going to the McDonald's in Rio Grande Ohio. Every morning I go through the drive- thru and ask for "a medium coffee with 3 cream and 6 sugars in a bag, please."

I pay the dollar twenty and I am given my order as I asked. Yesterday I went through, asked the same, paid the same, went to the pick up window and the employee handed me the coffee cup. I asked her about the cream and sugar and she said it was in there.

(I don't have them put it in due to the fact that they use a dispenser machine and not the individual creamers and they ALWAYS put too much in or instead of sugar they have added a sweetner product and I ALWAYS have to bring it back and have them give it to me as I requested.)

I gave the coffee back to her and told her that I wanted my cream and sugar in a bag, that is how I asked for it. This large female employee issued an audible and disgusting humppf sound, took the cup and emptied it as she was loudly complaining to the other employees (and yes I could hear her) about me wanting my cream and sugar in a bag and she had to re-do the order. When she handed me my coffee and bag of cream and sugar she slammed the window shut.

I work 1 mile away. At 7:10 am I called the McDonald's of Rio Grande and asked for a manager. The gentlemen who answered said his name was Ronald, if I remember right. I told him everything that I stated above and his answer to me was to give me a free coffee the next day. I told him that would be fine but that the employee also needed to be addressed for her behavior as she is supposed to represent McDonalds to the public. He said he would speak to the employees and I told him the other employees were not the problem they have all executed excellent customer service for as long as I have been coming there. The girl herself really needed to be spoken to and I wanted feedback on it. Ronald was somewhat hesitant in what to say to me and I made a questioning statement to him. I said, "You are not to sure what to do are you?" and he said no, because this was the first time he had come across this situation. I asked him to speak to a manager of higher authority, gave him my phone number, asked him to repeat the number to me, and that I would appreciate a follow up call. I also told him that a complimentary coffee was fine but since her attitude and customer skills were so bad and disgusting and she was bold enough to be rude to me she should be bold enough to issue an apology and then I would be satisfied. I did not receive a phone call back from any person or manager and neither did I receive a complimentary coffee when I went through this morning. In fact, when I went to the drive up window to retrieve my coffee the same large female employee was there but she did not provide service she had someone else do it. Most of the employees know my car and what I order. So much so that most mornings they see me coming and I don't even have to tell them what I'd like and that to me is perfect customer service.

This one large female employee has now given this particular store a major black spot on their reputation. I am considering sending an email to all personnel and attendants where I work and a an editorial letter to all the editors of the tri-state area of which I know and deal with on a daily basis and of course one will be sent to the field and regional supervisors as well as the main office of McDonald's.
