The Prime Rib is good - not great - the steaks are the same. The chicken is very good. The food and service should be better to be a truly "great" resturant. Service is ok and can be a little slow. The bar area is good with great sandwiches and also you can get the full menu from the bar area. Expect to spend around $20 per plate plus drinks. Historic building, historic location on the old Erie Canal, decent atmosphere - a little pricey for the quality and lacking great service. Parking is a chore, either street parking, a little lot accross the street or walk across SR 23. Busy on weekends - expect to wait for a table and slow service.

They always have great food: You can't go wrong eating at the Emmitt House. Everything I've ever ordered has been great. Their steaks come out sizzling. I've always had excellent service.

Not so impressed.: My boyfriend and I went to the Emmitt House to have a romantic dinner. When we walked in we were not greeted until about 10 minutes after our arrival.. A family that came in after us was seated first. After we sat down we watched as other people who arrived later recieved their drinks and placed their food orders. We waited about 20 minutes before alerting one of the workers about our situation. We still received little service throughout our meal. If it wasn't for a gift certificate that I received, we would have went somewhere else. The food was not bad, but it was not worth the price you pay.
