Focus on Friends

I would like more people to know about Focus on Friends Drop in Center and what we do there. We do need volunteers there. They don't have to do much maybe take small amounts of trash out if they wish. Sit around and talk to people with mental health issue's, they need someone to talk to sometimes. We interview people that want to volunteer there and show them around and tell them what we do. We have computers there and big screen t.v. and all kind's of recreation and a pool table that people enjoy. We would like to get the word out about Focus on Friends because they have different groups there for families with son's and daughther's and family member's with mental health issue's and they provide group's to help families and friend's understand thing's about mental illness. We have speaker's come in on certain time's and day's usally in the evening to talk to people with certain disorder's such Post Traumatic Stress disoreder, Anxiety disorders' Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Depression, Multipal personality disorder's. How certain chemical imbalance's affect your mood and thought's. What medication's are about. How the newer medication's have lesser side effec't than the older one's like ssri's Selective seritonin reuptake inhibitors' work in the brain to balance these chemical's in the brain that are not there or need to be added to you brain chemical's or where there are to many chemical's in the brain and reversing this problem. All kind's of newere medication's coming out all the time now and better treatment facility's to serve the patient that has these problem's and then after care and out patient treatment's where you learn to live independantly. Very good information is given out there.
