Don't take your Girlfriend there: Food is good but remember you get what you paid for. Average check for 2 plus that expensive wine is around $50. Being in a college town, the girls always wanted you to take them to an expensive restaurant and Stevens is always on top of their list as long as they aren't paying.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsA wonderful place in beautiful "uptown" Athens!: If you're looking for a place to dine in Athens that is a bit removed from the local bar scene, this is your place. The menu and food are outstanding, and the atmosphere is pretty neat as well. The former home of the "Swindlefish Saloon" has been transformed into a intimate environment where students and professionals alike can come and enjoy the best food in Athens that isn't a cheeseburger :) By all means, next time you're visiting your child at school, or in town to see the Ohio Bobcats and the Marching 110, stop by Stephen's, you will not regret it!

Odd comment from getchevyn. Stephen's doesn't even have a liquior license. So it would be hard to get an expensive bottle of wine! The nice thing about Stephen's besides the great food is your ability to bring your own drink of choice; beer, wine or liquior. For a small fee they will chill your wine and serve you your drinks. Saves a lot on the cost of going out for a nice evening!
