Fern is your basic corner bar, where older people who may not feel comfortable around the college crowd and their music, hang out to drink and remember the good old days. The food is basic bar fare, will fill you up at a reasonable price.
Big disadvantage is location and very limited parking.
The staff was very friendly, if you want to experience what a blue collar, corner bar from the 50's was like give the Fern Cafe a try. -

My wife and I just got back from Ohio, we live in Florida,on our yearly visit to Findlay we went to my favorite spot, the Fern Cafe. I usually order 2 or 3 whole loaves to bring back to Florida with me but this year I didn't do that because the meat loaf sandwichs from last year really sucked, big time. We always take of group of 20 or more people into the Fern and and buy them anything they want to eat or drink. This year I was a little leary of ordering a meatloaf sandwich but I did and it was GREAT !!!!! It seems my daughter had been to the Fern the week before with another person, they both ordered a meatloaf and when they were less than good they confronted Gus, the owner and complained to him. Of course he denied ever changing any of the ingrediance in the sandwich. I'm not saying he fibbed but miracuously the following week, when we were there, the sandwiches were once again GREAT. Thank heavens for that because that sandwich was my only reason for going there all of the 51 years I have been going there. So, dear readers of this way too long review, go ahead and eat this sandwich til it comes out of your ears, I did !!!!!

I'm an 8 year customer of the FERN and I don't think their meatloaf is all that bad. In fact, I'll give it about a B-. Now their roast beef sandwiches are out of this world.
