I have visited this place once and I vow never to return. First, the service was slow and it took forever to get a table. Nevermind that, I can deal. The food itself was really quite poor considering the cost. We had some calimari that was very watery and rubbery, just plain untasty. Did I mention expensive? For the entrees my girlfriend ordered some shrimp pasta and I had a fettucini with chicken. Each were around $16. This would have been fine if the serving size wasn't a small bowl. It was average at best and did not impress me. About halfway through our meal, my girlfriend discovered that there was indeed an actual cockroach in her pasta. We contacted the server and all that she did was told us we didn't have to pay for that dish and asked if she wanted a new one. Obviously, her appetite was gone by that time. We should have gotten the entire meal free for the terrible experience. This place is more of an upper-class status type restaurant. If you have plenty of money and aren't that hungry, don't mind a roach here and there, like being in overcrowded spaces, and poor service, you might enjoy this place.
Lucrezia's is always a treat. Although, I do agree with others, it is a little pricey. The Chesterton restaurant is quite small and usually over-crowded. It's hard to have dinner conversation without talking quite loudly over the table. The Crown Point restaurant serves a better tasting meal, and is much more comfortable regarding spaciousness.
Busy but good!: This is a great little place voted the best dining in the Calumet area. We went there on the 3rd of July and it was very busy! The place was packed and loud and the wait for outdoor seating was too long to wait. After awhile the server got to us and we ordered wine and our food. It was difficult to visit because of the noise level, but we managed. The daily wine special was fantastic. All of our food from steak to pasta to seafood was amazing. Well worth the wait and noise! We plan to go back on a less popular evening.
