Ruge & Sons Meat

I have been going to Ruge's since I was a kid. They used to have sawdust all over the floor and have the best hot dogs ever. No more sawdust, but the smell is still so nastalgic and mouth watering when I walk in. The flavor of their meats is great, much better than you would get from any grocery store. Their prices are also better than grocery stores, especially when you consider the quality of their meats. Compare their ground meats to store bought when you cook them up, Ruge's has nearly no fat left in the pan! Also I highly recommend their chicken breasts the flavor (well there is a flavor for one) far surpasses grocery stores because they don't seem to be infused with water at Ruge's, plus the breasts are HUGE. I also recommend their pre-made frozen meats. They have, for instance, italian beef that is awesome and all you have to do is throw it in the oven or microwave.and you have a great main dish! Their fresh polish sausage is my weakness. I cook it up with some saurkraut and even my 6 year old picky pants will eat it! They are of course famous for their pig roasts and they are great great great. Finally I MUST mention the staff, they are consistently cheery and VERY pleasant. I haven't bumped into anyone in a bad mood yet. Want that ground sirloin wrapped 2 lbs fresh and 3 one lbs packages to freeze no problem. They have special freezer paper to keep that meat fresh and will wrap it all separately without hesitation. They are very attentive to their customers and go out of their way to make us smile. For example when I came in with my 6 year old daughter they showed her around a little the chiller room etc and gave her a hot dog (a long time tradition there) and she asks to go with me every time! This place has a very long tradition of excellent products, and attentive service. I buy all my meat there without hesitation.

Most excellent!: Ruge & Sons were our wedding "caterer" - I have never tasted finer or more tender meat and their BBQ sauce is out of this world! Their prices are accessible and worth every penny - we will ask them to make the meat for every large party we ever have, and so should you.
