Have been here 4 times (due to our guests request) but will not return anymore. Food quality is too iffy, sometimes great, others subpar. Owner has a smirky personality, and it seems that the 'regulars' get all the attention. Prices are very high for what you get. Sorry, we tried to like it, due to family vacations in Spain, but just cannot.
Stopped in with a party of 7 for an early dinner. Our waiter (Jeremy) was very nice and did a great job. We had 4 appetizers, the fried calamari was excellent, the pork skewer was very dry, the grill mushrooms were ok and the chicken livers should have been left in the can they came from. As for dinner, things kept going downhill from here...Plato Combinado was ok, Entrcot Madrileno (strip steak) was pretty bland, Lomo de cerdo con pimientos was dry (like the other pork dish) and lastly, we had the filet. I asked for the filet to be cooked medium well, no red inside, came out medium rare, sent it back. This thing came back like it was placed in the charcoal under the grill, DISGUSTING!!! The waiter and I believe the co owner (Elena) came by to see if it was any better, I said no, it was burnt beyond belief. They both recognized that the filet had been ruined. She asked if I wanted a new one and I refused. They brought one out anyways and it was better, but the damage had already been done! So, as the waiter is trying to remove the filet from the bill, he is getting yelled at by Carlos (co owner) and Carlos keeps looking our way in disgust and waiving his hand as if to tell us to leave. Not to mention when a member of our party walked by the kitchen, she overheard Carlos complaining about the medium well temp ordered. As we paid the bill, Carlos kept looking out at our party just waiting for us to leave. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE AND I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!
If you want something exotic but not spicy, this is the place. The Tapas are classic, from chicken croquettes that melt in your mouth to sauteed chicken livers in wine sauce to potatoes like Momma never made. I haven't had a soup I didn't want more of. My major problem is that by the time I get through the appetizers, the soup, the main dish, I have no room for the absolutely fab desserts. Last tine, I ordered dessert first. Smart move. If you are going to order American food, don't waste your time or money. But what a great taste of Spain! This is my Special Birthday Place.
