Our group of 16 went there this past weekend and it was wonderful! We had everything from the Prime Rib special, to pasta and seafood. Everything was cooked perfect. The service was great and very friendly. It was close to our rental house on the beach. Not inexpensive, but well worth it.
What's the big deal?
Not very good Italian, pasta overcooked and those prices.......TROPPO!
Pleasantly Surprised: I had never really heard of this place until I saw it listed on a website. Hammer's looks to be a fine italian restaurant, a full-service bar, all tied together with a boxing theme (hmmm). The menu is pretty extensive and it was hard to make a final decision. Before dinner you are served fresh bread with oil, and your choice of soup or salad. I went with the salad, which was of the garden leaf variety (don't know the official name for it). Many of the greens looked like they are plucked right from the trees out back. Not my favorite kind of salad, but the house-made ranch was yummy. For an entree I went with steak linguine, and my guest went with Chicken/Sausage Alfredo. (I forget the menu name for it). Both meals were very good, with hefty portions. My steak was served on kabobs with red peppers, onions, and portabello mushrooms. All of that was served over garlic buttered linguine. My guests entree had delicious bits of asaigo sausage and grilled chicken mixed in with the alfredo covered linguine. We passed on dessert, not being able to finish our entrees. The only negatives were the lighting being a bit dim, and not being offered a refill on my drink. Dinner for two runs about $35-$40, but I only paid about $17 with a web site certificate. I will definately dine at Hammer's again.
