The "upstairs" bar at LaSalle Grill is a gem in the city of South Bend. It is a "cigar" bar so smoking is allowed and a variety of high quality cigars can be purchased. The bar selection ranks with those in upscale clubs I have visited in Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles. The servers are extremely attentive, and even do a good job on the busiest of nights. There is a upscale or "yuppie" feel here (lots of women in dresses an d men in suits and sports coats), but I have worn jeans and more casual clothing and never felt out of place. Weekends include a Jazz band with a $5 cover charge and a full menu. The only problem is that a night here can easily range from $50-$200 depending on if you order food, cigars, and the brands of drinks you prefer (they have a glass of whiskey that runs $75!). Bring your credit card or hit the ATM for a pile of bills. You will need them.
