the giant is the greatest place!: the giant bar and grill is a really good place to eat! the service is wonderful! I live in town and often go there I keep going back because the food is so great!
the tenderloins are huge you can take the edges off and make a 2nd tenderloin sand. but there so big you couldnt eat them both at the same time! and the hamburgers are so tender and juicy! This place is delicious!
If you have kids they cant go into the bar obviously but you can always get it to go just call them and order what you and its usually ready in 20 to 30 min.
This is my personal favortite restraunt in fairmount!
Now that's a tenderloin: If you enjoy a good tenderloin for your meal then you have to stop by this tiny little spot off Main St. in Fairmount, IN. I have been there several times to get their tenderloins and will keep going back. I'm not one to enjoy crowds so I usually just order take out, but when I've been there and waited for an order I've always found the waitresses very friendly along with the patrons. If this is the type of place you enjoy then make sure to visit.
The tenderloins are so huge that you can break off the outer edges and make a 2nd sandwich. The ingredients used are fresh and you are given big portions of them too. All of this at a very decent and reasonable price. If you need something to go with the tenderloin then I'd recommend the french fries or their mozzarella cheese sticks. Both are good and again you get a nice size serving of them. If you stop in during the James Dean festival at the end of September then you'll see an even livelier place.
WOW, you gotta try this place!: Stroll down the same streets James Dean walked in his formative years, and direct yourself to the Giant Bar & Grill, named for Dean's last movie before his death September 30th, 1955.
This is a small cozy bar with surprisingly well prepared food. Their salads are huge, and you won't believe the pork steak sandwich. It fills the entire plate, and is a man size meal most men are unable to finish. The bartender and barmaids are always cheerful and the service is good even when the place is jammed to the roof.
The decor is ultra casual, with several booths lining one wall and just enough space between the barstools and booths to walk to the restrooms in the back of the bar. Photos and posters of James Dean are tacked to the walls, and if you visit during the annual September James Dean/Museum Days bash, the place will be wall to wall James Dean look wannabes awaiting their chance to be chosen as the year's James Dean look alike at the Saturday night event.
The sleepy little village comes to life during the fall festival, and since it is the hometown of James Dean you will find many Dean themed stores and restaurants. Dean's childhood home is a mile from town, and his cousin Marcus Winslow is a kind Indiana sort who you can see buzzing about town.
The Giant Bar & Grill is my favorite nightspot any time I am in town. The frosty mugs of beer, interesting and friendly patrons and tasty eats make this a must do while in Fairmount!
