Chappell's Coral Grill has recently re-opened under new management. (October, 2009) This place is great! We recently hosted our daughter's wedding reception in Chappell's upstairs. The mid-1800's ambience of rich oak and warm lighting was delightful. A perfect blend of casual elegance. The food was sumptuous; starting with the goat cheese brushhetta, shrimp cocktail, and fresh vegetable hors d'oeuvres, and on to the seafood gumbo and butternut squash bisque, to the melt-in-your-mouth filet mignon, chicken diane, encrused tilapia, and jambalaya entries to the wedding pies, grapes, cheese and wine; It was delicious! Sheldon (the owner) and his team were professional and gracious. Brian (the chef) was wonderful to work with. (especially in light of planning this from out of state) The attentiveness of the staff and servers was unflagging throughout the six hours we were there! We would highly recommend Chappell's to our family and friends.
The fish I had was old and rubbery. Was dead a while and had the texture of string. Bad flavor. I tried two bites to be sure but was afraid to try anymore.
My dinner was anything but spectacular. My yellow fin tuna was beyond well done and ordered medium. Also had a strong fishy taste. the vegetable au jour was stir fry and the item was limp and mushy. the pasta au jour was served with crab cakes and was lukewarm at best. The only thing that had quality about it was the glass of wine. This was my 1st and last visit. At $176.00 for 5 I can get better quality seafood at Red Lobster.
