Gus's is a great place to hang out with friends, and get some really good drinks. The bartenders also rock.
The Trading Post (Gus's SportsBar & Grille): The Grote Trading Post/SportsBar and Grille in Bright Indiana offers a wide variety of goods and good times, and is definitely worth wandering off the beaten path to visit. Combining all the aspects of small-town living under one roof is what makes this place so unique.
But what is the Trading Post exactly? Well, first of all it's a convenient little corner store where you can pick-up your odds and ends and be in and out in no time. It's also a walk-up window front creamy whip where you can have a cold treat on a hot night. And lest we forget, the Trading Post is a restaurant serving home cooking (specializing in fried chicken, potato logs and sauerkraut balls). Definitely good food for good prices!
Finally there's my personal favortie aspect of the Trading Post; "Gus's SportsBar and Grille." Spacious enough to handle the large weekend crowd while still maintaining its neigborhood bar appeal, you will feel like a regular from the time you first walk in. The casual atmosphere and ecletic clientele seem to provide the perfect element for a good time. Whether it's Billiards, Sand Volleyball, Corn Hole, Texas Hold 'Em, Video Golf, an impromptu game of Hackey Sack, or just good old-fashioned conversation, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone just being bored.
"Gus's SportsBar & Grille" is also a great spot to catch some good live music without having to battle the traffic and crime that steadily increases the closer towards the city you go. Fortunately local Bright-based rockers "Peppertown" play quite often, either as the entire ensemble or smaller acoustic groupings. With all this and more going on regularly I would of course have to recommend the reader come on out here and experience it all firsthand. You won't be disappointed!
