User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsTavern atmosphere with great chicken: For those who seek the old-fashioned tavern ambiance with great chicken, Wagner's is the place to be. The chicken is always pan-fried and served hot, peppery and delicious .
Sure it's smokey from time to time, so if you're an uptight, bland-food-loving snot who complains about that kind of thing, then don't go. It just leaves that much seating for the rest of us who just grin and bear it, and enjoy this one of the last of its kind taverns. The food is reasonable, the beer is cold, and we try to make the one-hour drive there at least 4 times a year. In fact, am going back tonight to celebrate my sister-in-law's retirement.-

terrible service, too high priced, food awful, bill added incorrectly, place run down. Can't think of one posituve thing to say. Won't be spending our money there again. Didn't seem to care we were dissatisfied. Service just became slower. Appetizer came with food.

All around terrible place. Quesadilla was burnt, taco salad was basically a bag of chips...no dressing, no salsa. Chicken wings had some kind of sauce splashed on them after cooked. Run down. Service slow and high prices. When we complained we were told they are known for their chicken...When I told them we were new to the area and came with other people and I would tell them not to eat there it was explained to me that they've been around a long time and basically didn't care. When we left found a couple of other restaraunts that were packed...this one wasn't. Should have been our first clue.

What were you thinking? This place is the Mecca for fried chicken lovers, and you ordered QUESADILLAS And TACO SALADS!!?? It's a wonder they didn't throw you out on your snobbish, uninformed behinds.
If you don't go here for the fried chicken, don't go at all. I live in San Diego, and visit family in Indiana about 2x per year, and this place is always on the "must do" list. I dream about the fried chicken from Wagner's!!!
I don't care how bad or good 1 dish is. It's no excuse for the terrible service and outrageous price. Oh yeah, and they added the bill up incorrectly the first time. They were annoyed when we pointed out it was over $20 too much. I have never ever gotten such bad service. My kids even tell other people don't go there. They hated it.
