A J 's has the Grandma Bonus: Most days Grandma [ Proprietor- Virginia] is at the restauraunt.
She gives an air of home to the place. This is something rare, and missing ,in the good old USA, more and more. she greets most customers by name, Even us out- of- towners. Katy has a smile and good word for most of us. Katy is a great server and remembers our regular orders. She recalls our favorites, although sometimes, most of a year has passed. She remembers my granddaughter likes creme soda, and my grandson wants OJ.
Grandma & katy are the reason to visit and return. The FOOD is what brings us in though! Biscuits & gravy, Fried Taters, & the Lunch Specials[ At a Really good price!] Choose a # 1 or # 2 Breakfast special, BUT, Only if you are HUNGRY. Good service, food, & atmosphere!
While you are there...Watch out for Wendy!! She adds the Spice, to your visit. She will sit you at The Liars Table, & trade linguistic barbs with the best of us. The coffee ,and local storytelling, is endless. .
Every member of my family, LOVES the place! My good friend, PETE, grabs everyone available, and heads for AJ's , most mornings. If we are at the farmhouse , the kids want to eat at AJ's Diner!
Stop in! Have a good meal! [ Hurry, they close at 2 pm, unless Grandma says " The Chicken or Meatloaf is all gone."] Then the day is over, except for locking up & cleaning up......Tell them , EARNIE sent you!
Thanks for Good Food, Friends, Good times & Memories!
Down home country cookin': AJ's is your typical small town beanery. Open early (5am local time), close after lunch. Good value breakfast with the usual egg dishes and good meat sausage and bacon. Oatmeal is so huge you can't finish it, and cooked like gramma used to make it. Lunches are blue plate specials but a couple of my favorites are the pan fried chicken on Friday and Sunday, Sausage and Kraut on Thursday. Burgers and tenderloins are also good. Owned by Granny and run by Wendy and Roger, children of granny. Katie, the little red head is a fine cook and does a great job. If you want fancy, forget this place, if you want local flavor, and friendly people in a small town atomosphere, this is the place in Vevay for breakfast or lunch. Mr. IU
