Wow! What a place. The Old English Golf Course is the best golf story I have ever experienced. The Town of English flooded then the Town was moved and then a bunch of the local townspeople built a golf course with the help of one of the best in the business - Dr. Hurdzan. The design and layout goes over under and through the Old Town of English. Some of the old streets on English are now cart paths for the golf course. The design and layout is one of the best I have played. Dog leg lefts and dog leg rights. Long holes, short holes, water and sand traps - VARIETY on every hole. No parallel fairways - the course is strung out over a very large area. The greens are in excellent shape. Bermuda Grass Tees and Fairways were also good. Rough had a little clover. Some cart paths are still gravel, but you don't play on the cart paths. The black tees on #4 and #7 are up by an old grave yard. The holes are 485 yard par 4s. TOUGH!! #14 is a great par 3. 200 yards, but plays less because it is down hill about 80 feet. I stayed below the hole on a tricky green and got a par. $26.00 on weekdays is a great great value. Old English is only 22 miles from the new French Lick casino. We played Old English then went to the casino. It was a great day.
One of the best designed courses in Southern Indiana. Presents lots of different looks from the T-box, as well as the aproach. However, when playing this couse late last summer the greens were in terrible shape. One par three on the back should not have even been open. I understand the weather was incooperative at best, so hopefully in the future this will prove to be a lesson learned. Water is priceless!

I played this course in June 2008 and thge greens were in excellent shape. They cut down 100 trees to make the one green work.
