Friendly servers, great food in a college town: This is a must when visiting Bloomington, Indiana. Great value for the money, fun, cozy atmosphere. Clean restrooms.

Great Karaoke: I love going to Bear's for karaoke on Thursday nights. Unlike some other locations, at Bear's you are on stage. The crowd is really energetic during the college terms. The students really cheer on the singers. It's definitely a place I'd consider driving an hour to perform there. There's a minimal cover charge, but, it's worth it.

Needs a facelift... or good cleaning: The food at Bear's is fine, standard bar fare. The service is okay, if somewhat surly, and the overall atmosphere leaves a little to be desired. It is what it is, a college hangout which hasn't been changed or updated in years. They do have the "comedy caravan" on monday nights that can be entertaining and they have hosted some comics which have gone on to stardom. It just feels dirty when you walk in, and smells a bit musty. It could be the greasy dirt which coats a lot of the unused surfaces. A good cleaning and updated lighting, along with a new menu might make it a really nice experience. Parking is also an issue, so choose carefully where you park if you don't want your car towed or ticketed.
