User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsBest sushi in town! Get there when they first open and you can avoid a long wait (or go with great company and enjoy the company). Definitely share around because the food won't come all at once if the place is busy. The wait staff is generally friendly and the chef is eccentric to say the least!
User Rating: 4 out of 5 starsGreat sushi: My first date with my husband was at Kokoro, it was also my first experience with sushi. The food is amazing - it's not traditional Japanese sushi, but a blend of Korean and Japanese. We have stopped going, however b/c of the price - each time we go, it seems that the sushi goes up by a dollar per roll or more. You get a massive quantity, but I guess since we had gotten that massive amount for less, we don't want to pay more for it. Tony (the owner) is a cantankerous older man and is amusing to watch/listen to, unless you piss him off. TIP: Do NOT wear a hat into his resteraunt, he will kick you out - considers it highly rude. His favorite saying is "You want fast food, go to McDonald's." Which is true, you can expect to be there on a busy night from one and a half to two hours. But that's what we like about it, food and interesting conversation. His wife is a sweet little lady - the yin to his yang. She is always trying to make certain that you are happy with your meal and eveyone is happy. As far as service, I saw some complaints from other visitors, but any time we've been there, the servers were friendly.
User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsBest sushi in Lafayette!!!!: I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Kokoro. I have been to all of the other sushi places in Lafayette, and being from the coast, they left a lot to be desired. But after discovering Kokoro, I can say that I have been thoroughly satisfied. You have to try it at least once.
