First went to Powers in 1948, age 5. One burger = 15 cents. Pie was 20 cents. By high school, the car hops got cute. In 1961, I got 4 burgers at a time. There are Powers stores in Fort Wayne. See Powers' website, from 1935 to 2009.
Detroit White Castles are similar; same era. Grocery stores everywhere have them cooked and frozen; fairly good - nostalgia.

Reminds me the 1950's. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is the best around. A very clean operation and great food goes together.
I grew up in Port Huron and my parents would take us there as kids. I was back in MI recently and drove 45 minutes up to Port Huron just to have a few Powers burgers. IT WAS WORTH EVERY SECOND OF THE DRIVE. Maybe the best burger in the world. Every slider now just seems to have something missing. Maybe its the dirty dish rag over the buns but who the hell cares..... Powers is the best.
