About:Soul food goes upscale in this small, hip restaurant in the suburban Sunset Strip mall along bustling Northwestern Highway. The food is true to its Southern home-cooking roots, with Hoppin' John, catfish, collared greens and huge, gravy-smothered pork chops. But the owners have added some trendy and tasteful additions, such as wild mushroom and shrimp fritters and escargot in pastry. In the hushed dark-green-and-purple dining room, quiet rhythm-and-blues and jazz tunes fill the air. Magazine covers featuring African American heroes are framed on the walls.

    I eat at B/C often and I do so because the food is delicious. It is best when you eat in because you can get refills on the cornbread and sweet potato muffins , ummmm. The fish, wings, greens and macaroni selections are my favorite. I would recommend this restaurant because I have never gone there and been disappointed. The only thing I can say that wasn't that good to me is the deserts , but I'm sure that they will improve on that going forward. Keep up the great cookin.

    Being from the south I expected much more from the restaurant. The waitstaff and bartenders are great; very attentive! I have been visited on several occasions because of the peach martinis (YEAH!) but I'll pass on the food. It just isn't that impressive.

    My favorite soul food place, hands down. Very affordable, friendly service, and awesome gumbo.
