Central Station/Sloppy Joe's..whatever you call it, (although, personally sloppy anything in a name isn't very appealing to me), if you are truly looking... really LOOKING..., for a "hole in the wall" place outside of Royal Oak, this is IT. It doesn't get much more bare bones or grungier this side of 8 mile. The place is smoky and reeks of stale cigarettes (and I am a smoker!), the tabletops are burned, the pool table is burned, and the ashtrays are worn out. The place is dark, and maybe that is intentional, as I'd hate to actually see the floor/carpet. The bathrooms are at best, a mess (men's room). On off hours as I drive by, I find it amusing that both the front door and the side door are propped open, as if this will alleviate the stench that is part it's charm.

On the plus side, If you go to just karaoke, you'll most likely get up there in 30 minutes or less, even on a Saturday. The crowd is usually responsive if you sing fairly decently after 11 PM; especially country or Kid Rock songs. Not the place I'd go to try a love song or a ballad.

Never had the food, so I can't speak to that...but after a couple of their cheap drinks, you'll not be bothered that the kitchen is closed after 10.

When friends are in the mood to go for a hole in the wall-type joint, and be able to just drink one last drink, karaoke and then get out, we always head here. Just don't be shocked if every head in the place whirls around to see who's coming in the door when you walk in...I wouldn't recommend it as a pick-up joint for single guys, lol...

Bottom line...this place is fine, if you know what you are getting into. The 'regulars' seem to keep it in business. First-timers may be a bit put off by it. Just act like you've been here before and have a couple kids at home wondering where their dad/mom is.

Sloppy Joe's is a great place to Karaoke and play pool. The new management has made it a great atmosphere for ALL. The staff there are all hot!! Don the chef makes the best burgers in town!!! Ladies night on Thursday's, great deals, $2 Long Islands on Wednesday's, Free pool on Sunday's, $5 pool tournament every Monday. Karaoke on Thursday, Friday & Saturday!!! Kirt is still the best host around!!

Karaoke @ Sloppy Joe's formerly known as CENTRAL!: This small bar is fun just to go have a few drinks, eat some food and sing some songs. Everyone knows everyone there and if you have never been there then you are sure to know everyone by the end of the night. They have awesome and very friendly staff! Penny is the hottest waitress and always serving you with a smile. Kirt is the best karaoker ever everyone loves it when he sings!
