Back Alley Gourmet has a wonderful selection of delicious sandwiches, soups, and salads for everyone. "Back Alley" is a carry out spot (located on Main near Madison)with plenty of space to eat in, even with groups.

The grilled sandwiches are second only to Zingerman's, (only much faster service and superior value). The quality and variety of soups is amazing and are enhanced by their selection of seasonings. The beet salad with blue cheese and mango chutney vinigrette is my personal favorite, but there is usually a dozen or so others to choose from.
I also find Back Alley a great place to pick something up to warm up for dinner; Caribbean Chicken is my favorite, when they have it.
Basically, I find the food to have great quality with healthier than normal ingredients and to be of superior value. The fast and friendly service is a bonus.

We catered a few items for our New Year's party: a baked brie, shrimp mousse and pastry tray. The brie was okay but not great. The mousse was loaded with pickle relish and everyone that tried it agreed that it wasn't worth spreading on a second cracker. The pastry tray was really bad. The items were very small and fair to poor in quality--definitely sub standard. We paid $150.00 for these 3 items most of which ended up in the trash.

Fantastic: Back Alley Gourmet continues to have a selection of the greatest deli sandwiches in the area, as well as a fantastic salad bar.
