Simply put, this place is great. I have been here several times over the years - the food is outstanding and the staff is excellent. Service with smile and a positive attitude.
One of our favorite places to visit when in Ann Arbor. Their burgers are awesome and the service is pretty good. We like to sit at the front window and people watch while eating. I like that it's not too loud either.
For a bar/restaurant located so close to campus, Red Hawk is a semi-upscale joint. It's not upscale in the Chop House sense: you can wear a t-shirt and shorts at Red Hawk and you'll be fine. It's upscale in that the food, service, and ambience are of a higher quality than most of the surrounding restaurants. Of course, the price is higher too. Sometimes I think they're main courses are over-priced (especially given that the portions are occassionally small), but the quality often justifies the cost.
Their burgers and sandwiches are pretty decent. The nightly specials are hit-or-miss. The soups are almost always excellent.
