My wife and I have been going to Kai Garden for several years now on the average of at least once a month and to say we have never had a bad meal doesnât begin to tell just how good the food is there. They have an extensive selection on their main menu and have an additional Chinese menu though it is written in English as well. For appetizers I highly recommend the scallion pancakes, cold noodles with hot sesame sauce, or either the steamed or fried dumplings. For entrees, the taro duck, the crispy fried chicken, the salt fish and chicken fried rice, the crispy pork chop, and a marvelous dish called ants on a tree are absolutely wonderful. But anything they serve is seasoned beautifully and very flavorful. We usually try to get one dish we know we like and experiment with something we havenât tried yet, knowing without a doubt that it will be good.
Just not very good! For starters, the tea was hot and dark, but tasteless. Maybe just plain old Chinese Resturant Tea. WonTon soup was very salty. I can tell how good a restuarant is by their Hot and Sour Soup and it was not very good. The three entrees dishes were good-beef lo mein, eggplant with garlic and vegetable delight. The dishes were on the small side. It was surprising, since it had a very extensive menu and I was expecting more.
Gourmet Chinese: These folks do a fantastic job with the old favorites like General Tsao's Chicken, and have unique, new dishes like Blue Tofu with Strawberries. Yum!
