Food is GOOD and chili is awesome!! I've been in there many times and the service is great. It does get busy sometimes but you never have to wait very long.
Food wasn't all that great and the drinks were kinda weak.
I would say walk to Beaks or the 129 Lounge. No Thanks to McGeadys.
My one, first, and last dining experience at Mcgeadyâs went as follows. Our neighbor had 3 free dining gift certificates from Mcgeadyâs so we passed by the dependable Ruby Tuesdayâs, Applebeeâs etc. to experience the downtown ambiance of old Monroe. Upon arrival our neighbor showed the gift certificates to the waitress and asked if they were still valid. The waitress stated âyes, they are.â The meal went as follows: the salad was miniscule, the mashed potatoes were cold, and the prime rib was misnamed. It really was a rib steak, less the bone that was apparently cooked with a blow torch. My steak (not roasted prime rib) went from burnt to raw in the same bite.
The meal, however, was not the worst part of this dining experience.
When the bill was presented, we laid down our credit cards and the gift certificates. The waitress left and returned, stating that the gift certificates for the meal would not be honored. The reason given was that even though they were issued in the name of Mcgeadyâs Town Pub, they had been issued by the previous owner.
This is after we had already asked if they were valid before ordering our meal!
We asked to speak to the manager to resolve the problem. The manager came and stated the he would not honor the gift certificates of a prior owner, even though there was no expiration date on the certificates. As the manager was becoming obnoxious we requested that he either call the Monroe Police Dept. or we would. He said âif that is how you want to handle itâ and walked away. He called the police from the bar and telling guests that we were refusing to pay our bill. This was not the case.
Monroeâs finest appeared in a short time, conducted themselves in a professional manner, arbitrated a settlement so that we could escape the clutches of Mcgeadyâs and in fact they were the high point of our evening.
I recommend that you avoid this place.
