This place is awful with all the places in flatrock to eat this is the last i pick.Theres very little homemade about there food, NONE of the bread is homemade. And price is fair are you kidding me?And there's no line to get in this place.I have been there twice ordered a hambuger it was one of those little frozen pattys.ANY bar buger is better. And there pies are ok but are they worth 12 dollars a pie?And let me say if you think the cookies and all that stuff in the old glass case is homemade dont fool yourself you can BUY the same stuff at gordon food sevice. And last but not least when i was there the last time all i heard was sceaming from the kitchen area.I can only guess anyone who thinks this place is high class and worth the price should look around when you are there it looks like a shack that was painted and wallpapered with a kitchen.Maybe there biscuits and gravey are homemade thats cool but why do they micowave them?ITs true i ordered them the frist time i was there you can see them do just that (IF THEY ARE SO GREAT AND BUSY HOW COULD THE BISCUITS GO COLD ) IM sorry but i will stick with the other places to eat for half the price and the food is just as GOOD
I personally dislike Kate's.The staff and service is great I will give them that credit. It's the food I wouldn't pay a penny for. It gets rave reviews from everybody for their food and the only thing worth eating in my opinion are their pies... and those aren't even as sensational as people rant on and on about. The food is absolutely disgusting. Especially the microwaved biscuits and gravy ( yes microwaved!) ... but my opinion of their version of the dish is probably because I was raised by a southern mom who makes awesome gravy from scratch.
I LOVE KATE'S! Their food is fantastic. The biscuits and gravy are terrific!! My fiance and I eat there almost every Saturday morning and we are always satisfied. Trust me - the wait is worth it. Take home a pie or cookies on your way out. The service isn't the greatest, but the food definitely makes up for that.

Eh. yeah.. maybe you should review "southern food"; I donât think this restaurant claims to be a southern kitchen. I eat there and it is regular diner restaurant food. The staff is nice the food is good at a reasonable price. High-end cuisine is only created in high-end restaurants, which make you compensate for the ingredients and staff. Home cooked can never be compared because your pallet is trained to withstand the slop that is fed to you as a child.
