These are the best darn hot dogs around! Anywhere! Period! Paragraph! The sauce and root beer are made on site and are unique in every way. Across the river, Vince's hot dog stand serves a greater variety of food that is decent. "Monroe's Original" only serves hot dogs, chips and root beer. But you see, that's what makes them the best "hot dog" stand around. That's their specialty; that's all they do. All effort goes into the dog. If a hot dog is all you want, this is the place. I don't go to Red Lobster for steak; I go for seafood. That's their specialty; that's what they're known for. I'm 44 years old and have lived in Monroe all of my life. My parents took me here ever since I can remember anything. The A&W target used to be up. This an original A&W 1950's style car-hop hot dog stand. They had to change it to "Monroe's Original" when A&W moved into Monroe next to K-Mart with their standardized recipies. Monroe's Original didn't change their recipe. It's still the same as it was in 1968. When they arrive on your window tray they're wrapped in white paper. When you roll 'em open, they're freshly steamed and all shriveled up. Then comes the first bite! Yum! Yum! Yummy!
GREAT food, and very nice servers. The prices are good, and it's fun to have the food brought out to your car. =D
I have lived in the county for 53 years. The menu here is simple and limited and the hot dogs are top notch every time. The sauce is homemade and VERY good.
