Reviewed from Yahoo! Movies: Good feedback! How do you become a "movie watcher" member?
Thanks!
If I were running a movie theater I would want as many people as possible to attend since:
1) I would make more money from more people since there is considerable money to be made from sales at the concession stands ($2.50, as of the last, and I do mean the very last, time I inquired, for a $.63 bottle of water). I have also heard that the concessions provide more of a profit that do ticket sailes. Simple conclusion, more people, more concession profits. 2) If tickets were $5.00, as the absolutely top price, 20 people in the theatre @ $5.00 each equals $100.00. And 20 people might actually be likely at those prices. The current price of $10.00 a ticket means 10 people equals $100.00 plus 1/2 of the concession sales as for 20 people (or even less since spending so much on a ticket leaves less for snacks). I am assuming, although I am not sure, that the rights to show a movie are a fixed fee for each showing. All this without even considering that the majority of movies aren't worth $5.00 in entertainment value.
By the way, the Laurel Park 10 is closing as of October 11. Today, at 2:00 on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon there was not a sole in sight (except for 2 employees and me outside, and I certainly was NOT buying a ticket at those prices).
