Great place even if you're not a hipster: My friends and I have been going to the Magic Stick for a couple years now and I must say we've seen some amazing bands there. From Detroit Cobras to The Datsuns the Magic Stick gives the audience that intamcy that so many other venues lack.
Love this place: Ok...if you don't like diversity, this is certainly not the bar for you. First of all this place is really easy to find. It's right on Woodward where even the most novice of detroit goers can find it. Second the people that go here are amazing!!! You never know where anyone is from which makes for really great beer conversations over a random game of pool upstairs! Constant mucic being pumped into every room makes it a great atmosphere for bowling downstairs. You can even just hang out on the couch and people watch if thats what youre into..i know i am. Emo, Indie, Rock, Techno, Ravers, Club kids, Reggae rastas, and even new age kids all come together for an afternoon of watching the new band that is sweeping the detroit area before they hit it big while having a slice of some of the best pizza that detroit has to offer.....Did i mention that i Luv this place!!!!!!!! :-)
Good venue- good bands: High likelihood that the band playing any given night will be good. They have alot of national acts on club tours so there's always something different to listen to. The drink prices are pretty low, although not as low as some clubs. They fancied-up the place, too. The bar itself is very attractive, with nice people working there.
