Taco Especial

My husband and I had patronized Taco Especial for years. Their food is awesome. I love their cheese enchiladas as well as the Steak Lomo and the Combination plate. But, one day were were eating dinner there and it just sort of hit me how bad this place looks. It's not well kept up. There are way too many photos on the walls, and of course photo frames hold dirt. Some of the chairs look broken, and they have vinyl that is splitting on the seats. The tables are out of date, have chipped surface in some cases, and the paneled walls look like they could use a good washing. Then, there are plastic flowers all around and a stuffed chili pepper (!) that hangs from the ceiling! When I thought of all the dust and dirt that might be in the room, I lost my appetite. My husband said for all the years that the owners have been in business, you'd think they could remodel the place and bring it up to date. We've been to ALL the Mexican restaurants in S.W. Detroit and none of them are as cluttered and out of date as Taco Especial. We loved the food, but we have gone elsewhere for our Mexican food.

Did they sell the business? Its just nasty now. And the portions sure have gotten smaller. And the salsa...YUK! Its ketchup and chili powder. Please go back to original recipes!

Great food been going there for at least 30 years,and have been to Mexican town many times and yet to find better, Maria you are the BEST (John)
