When I was a little girl my momma and daddy used to take me there for lunch on days when my daddy would be working at the hardware. I remember. I remember it being a happy time. I remember the smiles, the tables, the people. . .I remember the "long john" doughnuts filled with bavarian creme. . .and I remember when my big sissy worked there as a waitress. . .times when we shared family dinners, birthdays. . .my daddy's 30th birthday. . . inside those walls.
nearly 20 years later. . .
I returned to Fairveiw. . .to retrace old footsteps. . . to breath in those memories. . .
I still saw the same smiles from the staff, and felt the same joy I felt sitting in that coffee shop watching my two sons cover their little faces in bavarian creme filling.
All I can say is that my review has more to do with home town feeling and REAL service than a 5 star review might have. . .those of us who've lived on both sides of the fence. . .from down home to the "big city". . .can really appriciate a place where you walk in and you can feel the warmth. . .where the experiance of "mom and pop" lives on in this modern and always changing world.
Fairveiw itself embodies that feeling of being "up north" that is only completed by the small town spots, like this one, giving you an opportunity to be a part of this woodsy, simplistic reality in which those who live there live their lives.
I love this place: The service has gone down over the years, but it is still one of the best restaurants I have gone to.
not this one: moldy bread, bad service
